Back in January I wrote a post on Vintage Printable, a site that offers out-of-copyright images. For more fun image galleries to explore, check out the New York Public Library Digital Gallery. NYPL Digital Gallery provides free and open access to over 700,000
images digitized from primary sources and printed rarities in the vast
collections of The New York Public Library, including drawings,
illuminated manuscripts, historical maps, vintage posters, rare prints
and photographs, illustrated books, printed ephemera, and more.
You can also explore the NYPL on flickr here for some cool sets.

I'd be interested in hearing. The TOS seems rather clear that it is not unless expressly approved by Amazon. I guess if the library got it in writing then they would be ok.
