PAPAYA MOMMIES:

We're trying to entertain these boys this week.  They have five days off from school during the Halloween week!  Fewie.  So we're workin to fill in the blanks with some fun and tradition.   This guy above is my little monster, Rowan.  And Fraggle Head No. 2 below is Jake.  (He's the son of our massage therapist at PAPAYA. Yep. We have a spa room for staff!) Loved my glass of wine, pizza and pumkin festivities last night!  Perfect.  Proud of our little monsters.

Creepy Inspiration!

It's blustery and cold, leafy and somehow so lovely today.  We picked pumpkins in a field today and I'm gearing up for a Halloween fest this weekend.  I've already dragged in white money trees from the yard and dead thistles to convert the house for festivities.  (black cupcakes, tequila and fall branches to follow) These chilly images are from the incredible world of illustrator Art & Ghosts.  All of us at PAPAYA! are crazy fans for her.  These images reveal her whispery shaddow side.  Perfect for a Halloween inspiration.

It's no secret around these parts that I Love, Love, LOVE alphabets! Aqua Sightings

Color spotting is a fun game I like to play with myself and then infuse in my artwork.  Noticing the value a color has in a day and how my preferences change over time.  What colors jump out at you like berries saying, "pick me!"   The colors you get obsessed by and enchanted with.  Lately it's been husky lavenders, mauve's and faded purples.  Today as I was cruising through my flickr faves I kept coming back to the aqua infused images.  Especially these three.  Just beautiful.  Flickr sources: Svetlana Eremina, Ximena Escobar, Okinawa Soba. 

Inspiration: Kazaan Vivieros

I have known artist and friend Kazaan Vivieros for many years since I first moved to San Francisco in 1998. We were in a book club together that, like many infamous book clubs, was probably better known for it's wine and cheese consumption. She was part of a group of very cool women who wrote, painted, had children, got married, got promoted, moved, moved in and moved on and through it all, she painted and I always admired the twists and turns her career took. She is a prolific and talented painter who has caught the eye of collectors around the world....and I can say, I knew her when....

Jane Schouten

I've just spent a rediculous amount of time exploring the world of Jane Schouten.  Through her fabulous blog, flickr and Etsy site.
 There's so many creative people in this world crankin out lovely perspectives and sharing amazing things.  It seriously makes me happy!  I loved this lil' article she offers up on her blog about how to make  wall vases!  The same would work for table vases or planters too.  I wanna try for x-mas gifts!  xoxoxo...
